After Spending 30 Years as a Hollywood Joke, Jean Claude Van Damme is Making a Serious Return to Professional Fighting
With tears streaming down his surgically modified cheeks, Jean Claude Van Damme announced this week he’ll be making a comeback to the sport of kickboxing after a 29 year hiatus. The 49-year-old thespian has grown tired of his sleazy life as a washed up B-lister, and will fight Somluck Kamsing in a K-1 rules match this April in Las Vegas.
In the ealy 1980s, Van Damme was en route to an impressive kickboxing career, racking up a 20-2 professional record. But that was nearly 30 years ago; Decades of drugs, Hollywood partying and his new Elvis Costello look won't help him come spring. But we're rooting for him, and, if you’ve seen any of his movies, you’ll know you can't count Van Damme out, ever.
I wonder if anyone on that yacht had the heart to tell Van Damme there isn’t a kid on the planet that still has a Bloodsport poster hanging in their room.
JCVD quote of the clip:
‘Van Damme is Drinking, Van Damme is doing cocaine....Van Damme is doing all that sh*t’
