The Classless Sean Avery Actually Stands up for Himself; Unfortunately, no One Was Watching

... Least of all the guy he cheap-shotted in Edmonton Oiler Ladislav Smid on Sunday in the New York Rangers' 8-2 win. Over the years, Avery has built up quite a reputation as being one of the most-hated hockey players in existence of all-time. There's no subject he won't touch when trash-talking, and, apparently, nothing he won't do either, like tell an opposing player he's going to fight, but to wait, and then clock him when he's not looking. In truth, Avery's hit on Colin Fraser, which acted as the accelerant to the fire on the ice yesterday (124 minutes in penalties stemming from that one incident alone), wasn't dirty. Still, everyone who watched the game yesterday probably felt an overwhelming need to take a shower right afterwards. For more on the incident, visit GetReal Hockey.
